The Spirit of 608 podcast is hellbent on one thing: elevating female founders building businesses at the intersection of fashion, entrepreneurship, sustainability + tech (a space show host Lorraine Sanders calls FEST). After many years as a full-time journalist, Lorraine launched the Spirit of 608 podcast, which features weekly conversations with women building businesses at the forefront of FEST. The iTunes new & notable podcast has been downloaded over 225,000 times. Past guests include fashion designer Eileen Fisher, Stella & Dot’s Jessica Herrin, The RealReal’s Julie Wainwright, Minted’s Mariam Naficy and Fashion Revolution’s Orsola de Castro, among many others.
Lorraine Sanders is a media entrepreneur and podcast producer devoted to sharing female entrepreneurs’ stories through her weekly Spirit of 608 podcast and helping women in business increase visibility and earn more media coverage through the podcast’s sister business, PressDope by Spirit of 608, a membership-based platform offering DIY PR training and resources to socially-responsible brands.
In her former life as a journalist covering the business of fashion from San Francisco, her work regularly appeared in Women’s Wear Daily, San Francisco Chronicle, FastCompany.com, Women 2.0, Ozy.com, 7x7.com, Men's Journal, Harper’s Bazaar and many others. She is a graduate of Brown University and has a Masters in Communications from Stanford University. A long time resident of San Francisco, she currently lives in Charlottesville, VA, with two little people who frequently seem to be the ones in charge.
